A repeat client from Bainbridge contacted the staff at Precision Audio & Tint about upgrading the factory radio in her new Jeep Wrangler, saying she was looking for a larger screen with upgraded features.
She chose a Stinger Height10 UN1810 10″ digital multimedia receiver. The Stinger Height10 has a floating screen that fits in most dashes. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the two USB inputs and HDMI input. The touchscreen display offers customizable tabs for pulling up your most-used functions and audio sources, and you can add your own images for custom backgrounds. By using the Stinger SRKJW18EH vehicle-specific kit and harness, we were able to integrate the Height10 to the factory camera, factory amplifier, USB ports, climate controls, vehicle settings and steering wheel controls.
We installed the Height10 by soldering and heat-shrinking every connection. This forms a water-tight seal, just like the factory wiring harness, that won’t come loose. Most shops use crimp caps and tape, which can come loose over time, causing electrical issues with the vehicle.
We also used a Stinger SRKJW18EH dash kit that gave the screen a factory look.
After the installation was complete, we gave the client a complete demonstration of the features on her new touchscreen radio. We showed her how to use her iPhone to make calls, use maps, listen to music, and verbally send and listen to messages with just a word or touch through Apple CarPlay.
