A client from Cairo dropped into Precision Audio to ask about upgrading his 2020 RAM Longhorn with a toolbox, window tint and new tires. After inspecting the vehicle, we worked with the client to choose truck accessories and upgrades that had the features and styling he wanted. With a respectable shopping list in place, we scheduled an appointment to begin the transformation.
RAM Tire Upgrades
The client wanted an aggressive tire that would have good traction in mud and sand yet still behave when on the road. We suggested the Cooper Discoverer SST PRO tires as they offer a great balance of road manners and off-road capability. The tires have tapered lug design that reduces stone retention. The center tread ribs are closer together than a full off-road tire to minimize noise and increase tread life. We mounted the new tires on the stock 20-inch wheels using our Hunter tire machine and balancer.
We installed a Zone Off-Road 2-inch leveling kit on the front of the truck to prevent the 37×12.50/20 tires from rubbing the front fenders. The Zone kit includes a two-piece spacer design that helps to prevent the top ball joint from binding.
Pickup Truck Toolbox Adds Convenience
The client wanted a way to store equipment securely in the bed of the truck. We proposed an aluminum CamLocker 71-inch low-profile toolbox in a matte black finish. The client chose a model that includes top rails on the top for added convenience. The T-handle design works with a carbon-steel cam-lock that ensures that the lid seals perfectly and the contents remain secure.
Window Tint Matches Factory Privacy Glass
The last step was to tint the driver and passenger windows. The client wanted us to match the factory tint on the rear and back glass. We used Llumar ATR film as it has a charcoal hue that looks great in these applications. The film also helps to keep the interior of the vehicle cooler by reducing the transmission of infrared energy into the vehicle. As always, we cut our tint film using a computer-controlled plotter so that there is no chance of scratching the glass or nicking the rubber trim.
