A repeat client from Donalsonville, GA, recently asked the team at Precision to install an upgraded audio system in his new 2019 John Deere Gator. The Gator was going to be a new addition to his work/dirt road toys, and he wanted an audio system that would be loud and clean while able to handle the harsh environment of Georgia’s trails and mud pits. After inspecting the Gator, we put together a simple yet dependable upgrade that would deliver great sound with the durability the customer wanted.
If you have been around the mobile electronics industry, then the Rockford Fosgate and Kenwood brand won’t be new to you. We based the audio system in this Gator on the Rockford RM1652W-MB mini tower speakers. These tower speakers are designed to mount cleanly to the roll cage, which allows the speakers to be in a location where they will not get submerged in water or mud.
Next, we installed a KACM1814 power pack by Kenwood. This 400 watt mini-amplifier is just what we needed to ensure the two 6.5-inch Rockford speakers could be pushed to their full potential.
The source unit KMR-D375BT by Kenwood includes an AM/FM tuner and Bluetooth audio streaming. Our client can now stream music from his smartphone straight to the Gator’s radio without the use of any wires. We were able to install the radio in the glove box of the Gator, which allowed the unit to be sealed and covered from everyday weather conditions.
As you can see, the installation on this Gator is neat and tidy. All the wiring is properly protected and secured to ensure the system will remain reliable, even when the vehicle is pushed to its physical limits. The customer was thrilled with the performance of the stereo system and loved how loud and clear it was, even at high volumes.
