The owner of this 2010 Jeep Wrangler drove up from Tallahassee so that the Precision Audio team could upgrade the stereo system and add a few accessories to his 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The client wanted a radio that offered modern smartphone connectivity technologies. He also wanted a backup camera system that would let him see what was behind the vehicle while parking or maneuvering. Finally, he asked us to order two sets of WeatherTech mats to upgrade the Jeep’s interior protection.
Jeep Stereo System Upgrade Improves Safety
The first order of business was to remove the factory radio to make way for a Kenwood DMX706S multimedia receiver. This double-DIN radio features a 6.95-inch touchscreen and includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. These technologies allow the client to use voice commands to get navigation directions, send text messages, make phone calls or choose a music or streaming service to keep him entertained. The installation required an interface module from PAC, along with a dash trim kit and radio antenna adapter.
We installed two sets of 6.5-inch Kenwood KFC-1696PS two-way speakers in the Jeep to improve the audio system’s sound. The front speakers are in the lower portion of the dash, and the rear speakers are in the soundbar above the driver and passenger. Both speaker upgrades fit nicely behind the factory grilles to keep things looking original.
Wrangler Backup Camera Adds Safety
The client wanted to be able to see what was behind the vehicle while backing up. We added an Echomaster PCAM-JP2 camera kit to the spare tire carrier. This kit positions a wide-angle camera so that it peers through the space between the spare tire spokes. As soon as the transmission is in reverse, the client can see everything behind the vehicle and avoid objects or people.
WeatherTech Products Offer Premium Protection
The last upgrade was for our team to install a set of WeatherTech FloorLiner 441052 black floor mats to the vehicle’s rear seating area. Just like the mats he already had in the front, FloorLiners protect the carpet from stains and damage from mud or dirt. We also added a WeatherTech 40324 Cargo Liner to the rear of the Jeep.

With the radio, speakers, camera and WeatherTech accessories installed, it was time to let the client check out the upgrades. We showed him how to use his phone with the new Kenwood radio and explained a few of the features of CarPlay and Android Auto.
