A client from Arlington, GA, came to Precision in Bainbridge in search of an audio system that sounded as good as his 2017 Mustang looked. After discussing multiple variations of system setups, we took him to our showroom for a little taste of what the system could sound like. Once he heard the speakers on display, he agreed to our plan and we scheduled an appointment for the following day to begin the install.

To power the system, we used a pair of JL Audio RD series amplifiers. We installed an RD1000/1 subwoofer amp and a RD400/4 four-channel amp to power the front and rear speakers. We mounted both amplifiers to a custom amp rack in the rear of the Mustang behind the subwoofer enclosure to keep them protected and out of the way. To support the RD1000/1 amplifier, we added a second battery to the Mustang. Using a Mesa power distribution block, we divided the 0-gauge wire coming off the Mesa Mp600 battery down to two 4-gauge-power wires to run to both amplifiers.

Once the amps were installed, we upgraded the front and rear factory speakers with JL Audio C2-650X coaxial speakers. We were able to use a BKFSB1502 speaker adapter by PAC to secure the new 6.5-inch speakers. Since our customer wanted a clean, crisp sound, we also installed a set of C2-075CT tweeters in the doors to further reinforce high frequencies and keep up with the subwoofer. Speaking of subwoofers, we installed a 12-inch Rockford Fosgate subwoofer. This subwoofer is rated at 700-watts and will pair perfectly with our JL Audio amp.

When the client came to pick up his vehicle, he loved the improvement in sound quality. With every crank of the volume knob, the smile on his face just kept getting bigger and bigger. We showed him different parts of the installation and he marveled at the clean, finished look.

When you are in the market to upgrade your audio system, stop by or give us a call at 229-246-2111 in Bainbridge or 229-233-5001 for our Thomasville location.
