A client from Pelham recently visited Precision Audio to ask about a 2017 Ram 2500 bedliner, a few technology upgrades and some truck accessories. We talked to the client about how he used the truck to develop an understanding of the kind of accessories he wanted. Once we understood his objectives, we started working with him to pick accessory solutions that would meet his performance goals and budget.
Line-X Ram 2500 Bedliner
The client had seen another truck we had sprayed with Line-X Platinum. He was impressed with the look and durability, which is why he came to us. After sanding the bed of the truck thoroughly, then wiping it down, we wrapped the truck in plastic to protect it while we sprayed on a 120-mil coating of Line-X. That’s twice as thick as the factory coating. We added the Platinum top coat to increase the UV resistance of the coating.

Performance Accessories
The next step of the project was installing a set of Ranch Hand Legend Step bars. These tubular fabricated bars include three steps to provide easy access to the cab and the bed of the truck. Next, we installed Llumar ATR window tint to improve the comfort of the vehicle under the hot Georgia sun. ATR films block as much as 61 percent of the sun’s energy to keep the interior cooler and protect occupants from UV exposure.
Kenwood Multimedia Radio Upgrade
The client chose the Kenwood eXcelon DDX9903S multimedia receiver so that he could use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto with whatever smartphone he had. These smartphone integration technologies allow the client to dictate text messages or make phone calls without taking his eyes off the road. We used a PAC Audio RP4-CH21 integration harness with the radio so that the steering wheel-mounted radio controls will work with the Kenwood receiver.
We added an Echomaster PCAM-10L backup camera to the rear of the truck to make backing up and parking safer. As soon as the client selects reverse on the transmission, the backup camera image appears on the screen of the Kenwood radio.

The client was very excited to see the changes we made to his truck. He loved the clean and tidy look of the bedliner, and the step bars made getting in and out of this moderately tall truck easier.
