“Will Installing This Product Void My New Vehicle Warranty?”

By David Leave a Comment

Magnuson-Moss New Vehicle Warranty

A common question we get at Precision Audio is “Will installing this product void my new vehicle warranty?” The simple answer is No. Let me explain.

In the early 1970s, car dealers started telling customers that they would lose their new car warranties unless all parts and service work was done by the dealer. As you can imagine, this created a firestorm, and Congress responded. In 1975, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act became law. Here is a link to the FTC’s site if you want more in-depth reading:

Simply Installing Aftermarket Electronics Will Not Void Your New Vehicle Warranty

In a nutshell, this law states that, for a vehicle manufacturer to void your warranty, the manufacturer has to prove that the aftermarket part or the labor performed caused the issue. The sad reality is that car dealers have short memory spans and are using this tactic with consumers again today. They are trying to limit your ability to install high-quality products on your vehicle – that’s right, your vehicle, that you paid good money for.

We Only Sell The Finest Products

There is one very important caveat to this issue. If the product and/or the service work performed did actually create a problem, then your warranty may be suspect. The good news is that Precision Audio sells only the finest products available. We are not willing to sacrifice quality on the front end to make a quick dollar. We know you worked hard for your money, and we would rather tell you to keep your money in the bank for a few more weeks to get something that will be reliable for years.

Our Installation Standards Meet Or Exceed The Manufacturer’s Standards

We carry that same thought process over to our installations. Our team of installers is highly skilled and expertly trained on working with modern vehicles. We will never do anything to jeopardize your warranty. We believe an installation should match or exceed the standards of the car manufacturer. What this means to you is that we might be a little more expensive than some other shops, but it is money well-spent. Our installation team aims to do work for you that will last for the life of the vehicle.

If you have any questions about this topic, we invite you to stop by our facility and talk to one of our staff. We will gladly answer any and all of your questions. We want you to be confident in knowing that you can personalize your vehicle with us.
